Who really cares?  May be a typical response when discussing light pollution. After all it is just deadly toxins being emitted into the air and inhaled by over millions of people throughout the world. Many people are not even aware of what light pollution is, so why should they care. They could not possibly mind the hidden fees on their electric bills. According to Utahskkies.org, the bill you get from your power company is only a small portion of the total cost; society gives a large bill for other "hidden" costs. For example did u know to power five 100-watt light bulbs from dusk to dawn for one year costs about $150? Thats  $150 to light up the neighborhood every night for a year. Welcome the the reality of light pollution.

• Light pollution affects not only astronomers. It affects the growth period of trees, nearly all nocturnal animals, driver safety, and crime.
• The United States spends ONE BILLION DOLLARS each year in wasted and improper lighting. If all of us were to use more efficient lighting (i.e. fluorescent of LPS) as a nation we could save 18.6 BILLION DOLLARS each year.
• Lighting makes up for twenty-five percent of electricity used each year. Industry, stores, offices, and warehouses take-up 80-90% of that
• Urban sky glow, and the lighting of flying birds bellies, contribute to the theft of our beautiful and spacious skies.
